Grown in the pristine mountain region of Tenryu, Shizuoka, our Tsuyuhikari Matcha is a rare and exquisite expression of Japanese tea craftsmanship. Made from 100% single-cultivar Tsuyuhikari, this ceremonial-grade matcha reflects its high-elevation terroir with depth, clarity, and an elegant complexity. This tea is

Shade-grown to enhance its natural sweetness and chlorophyll content, the tea is then stone-milled into a fine, luminous green powder. Tsuyuhikari is known for its smooth body and layered flavour, offering a refined alternative to more common cultivars, with subtle depth and an ethereal finish.

Certified organic by JAS (Japanese Agricultural Standards), this matcha is grown without the use of pesticides or synthetic fertilisers. Each harvest is guided by traditional Japanese agricultural wisdom and a deep respect for the natural rhythm of the Tenryu landscape.

To preserve its vibrant colour, aroma, and delicate flavour compounds, we package our Tsuyuhikari Matcha in violet glass. This biophotonic material protects the tea from harmful visible light while allowing in beneficial ultraviolet and infrared rays—light frequencies known to help maintain freshness and offer natural antibacterial benefits.

Ideal for traditional matcha preparation, this cultivar also performs beautifully in premium lattes and delicate recipes that highlight its graceful, vegetal character.

  • How to Prepare Your Matcha

    • Warm Your Tools
Fill your matcha bowl (chawan) with warm water and soak your bamboo whisk (chasen) for about 30 seconds. This softens the bristles, prevents breakage, and warms the bowl for smoother whisking. Empty the bowl and dry it gently.

TIP | After use, store your whisk on the whisk holder (kusenaoshi) to keep its shape and extend its life.
    • Measure & Sift
Use your bamboo scoop (chashaku) to measure about 2 grams of matcha (1-2 scoops) and sift it into the warm, dry bowl. Sifting removes any clumps and ensures a silky texture.

TIP | follow these directions to enjoy all powdered tea.
    • Add Water & Whisk
Add a small amount (10-20 ml) of cool or lukewarm water to the sifted matcha and gently stir with the whisk until a smooth paste forms. Pour in approximately 70-80 ml of hot water (around 80°C) and whisk briskly in a zig-zag or “M” motion until a fine, velvety foam appears on the surface. Finish here and enjoy immediately if you're drinking pure matcha.
    • For a Latte
To enjoy as a latte, simply top your whisked matcha with warm, frothed milk for a comforting matcha latte - or pour it over ice with cold milk for a refreshing iced matcha latte. Adjust sweetness to taste if desired.

Luxury Eco Tea Bags

Luxury Eco Tea Bags

Our tea bags are made from a biodegradable plant based material called Soilon. We don’t use dirty plastic!
Our tea bags are totally compostable but please allow a bit more time for your tea bags to break down, they do take just a little longer to decompose than everyday composable items. Our Soilon bags have met all compostability standards in Japan, Europe and North America but our manufacturers suggest commercial composting to reduce this extended time to breakdown.

If you don't have the time to wait, why not switch to trying our loose leaf teas that start to break immediately? We have a lot more blends to choose from and it is so easy to use with a specially designed infuser.

Tea bags come both in Boutique Jars and 40 or 80 refill pouches.
