Answers to Common Questions

How do I get in touch?

Weโ€™d love to hear from you โ€” a question about your tea, a question about an order, or just to say hello.

Email us at hello@theteacollective.com.au or call (02) 4906 1622. We answer Monday to Thursday.

Take the Perfect Match quiz โ€” a few questions about what you like and it will narrow the range down for you.

Every product page also lists a full tasting profile and every ingredient. If you are still stuck, email us and we will point you somewhere.

Standard shipping is $11.95 and arrives in 2โ€“5 business days to metro areas, 3โ€“7 to regional. Express is $19.95, 1โ€“2 business days metro and 2โ€“4 regional.

Shipping is free on Australian retail orders over $120. Free shipping doesn't apply to wholesale โ€” trade freight is quoted live at checkout.

Yes โ€” to Canada, Hong Kong, Japan, New Zealand, Singapore, the United Kingdom and the United States.

International shipping is quoted live at checkout by Australia Post, priced on the weight of your order and your address. There's no flat rate and no free shipping threshold. Delivery is usually 7โ€“14 business days.

Duties and taxes are included. The total you see at checkout is the total you pay โ€” nothing to pay on delivery.

Yes, from either shop. Choose Click & Collect at checkout and pick the location that suits you.

  • Queen Victoria Building, Sydney โ€” Level 1, Shop 11, 455 George Street. Usually ready within 24 hours.
  • Newcastle warehouse โ€” Unit 8/8 Channel Road, Mayfield West. Open Monday to Thursday, 8.30amโ€“4pm. Usually ready within 4 hours, and worth calling ahead on (02) 4906 1622.

One thing worth knowing: not every blend is held at both places. If you are collecting a particular tea it is worth checking with that store first, and we will be in touch if anything in your order needs to come from the other location.

Your tracking details are emailed to you as soon as your parcel is picked up, at the address you used to order.

If you cannot find that email, or your parcel has not arrived within the times above, email hello@theteacollective.com.au and we will chase it for you.

No. We do not offer change-of-mind returns on anything, through any channel โ€” online, in store or wholesale. Please choose carefully.

This does not affect your position if something arrives damaged, faulty or not as described. Full detail is in our Refund Policy.

Tell us within 5 business days of delivery and we will make it right. Email hello@theteacollective.com.au with your order number and a photo.

This applies to retail and wholesale orders alike, and nothing here limits your rights under Australian Consumer Law. See our Refund Policy.

We are so glad our teas found their way to you through one of our retail partners. We always want to hear your feedback.

If you bought through a stockist or retailer, though, we are unable to process returns, exchanges or refunds on their behalf โ€” please contact them directly, as they are best placed to help.

If you would like to buy from us directly and see the full range, you are always welcome to shop with us online or visit us in store.

A 100g pouch makes 40 or more cups. A 250g pouch makes 100 or more.

Both work out considerably cheaper per cup than tea bags, which is most of the reason people move across to loose leaf.

Yes โ€” and every jar has exactly the amount of tea it should.

We fill by weight, not by volume. Every jar is filled to the weight printed on the label, and every jar gives you the same number of cups.

The difference is the leaf. Big, open blends full of whole leaf, flowers, lemongrass or fruit are light and fluffy, so they fill the jar to the brim. Fine, dense blends โ€” a rooibos, a chai, a finely cut black โ€” weigh far more for the same space, so the same weight sits around the halfway mark.

Same weight. Same tea. Same number of cups.

Our jars hold 80โ€“100g, which is 30โ€“40 serves at 2โ€“3g a cup โ€” however full the jar happens to look.

We use one jar size right across the range. A different jar for every blend isn't practical โ€” and we'd rather keep the weight and the number of serves consistent than make the fill line look the same.

Airtight, away from light, heat and anything strong-smelling. A closed cupboard beats a windowsill, and the shelf above the kettle is the worst place in the house โ€” steam is the enemy.

Do not refrigerate it. Tea takes on the smell of whatever is around it, which is exactly how jasmine tea is made.

Black tea and most herbals take water straight off the boil.

Green tea wants about 80ยฐC โ€” boiling water is what makes green tea bitter, not the tea. Gyokuro is gentler still at around 60ยฐC. White tea likes cooler water and a longer steep.

Every product page carries its own brewing guidance, and there is more in our brewing guide.

Less than coffee, and it behaves differently. Tea also contains L-theanine, which slows the delivery, so the lift is steadier and lasts longer.

Black tea has the most, green less, white less again. Anything in our caffeine-free range contains no tea leaf at all, so no caffeine whatsoever.

We wrote about it properly in Tea vs Coffee: The Great Caffeine Debate.

Some blends are not suitable during pregnancy, and it depends entirely on the herbs in them.

Every ingredient is listed on the product page. Please check it, and talk to your midwife or doctor about anything you are unsure of. We are not able to give medical advice.

Yes. You can set one up from any product page, and manage or cancel it at any time at Manage My Subscription.

A subscription order can be cancelled any time before it is fulfilled.

Two places, and you are welcome at both.
