Assam grows in a river valley, not on a mountain. That low, wet, hot ground is what gives the leaf its malt and its weight, and it is why Assam became the backbone of almost every breakfast blend ever made.
Sold here as it comes from named estates rather than mixed in. Cut fine as CTC it makes the strong builder's cup; left as long leaf it is sweeter and fruitier than most people expect.
