Ripe Puerh undergoes an accelerated fermentation process called "wet piling" or wo dui, producing a dark, rich tea ready to drink soon after production. Its flavor profile is smooth and earthy, with notes of damp wood, leather, and occasional sweet undertones like dark chocolate or dates. Unlike Sheng, it has a mellow, velvety mouthfeel with no astringency, offering a comforting and robust experience that deepens in complexity as it ages.
